Lil Nas X applauds Beyoncé and Shaboozey for their country music achievements

Nas faced some challenges with his foray into country music, particularly with his hit songs “Old Town Road” and the remix with Billy Ray Cyrus. In 2019, Billboard made the controversial decision to remove the track from its Country Songs chart, citing a lack of elements of today’s country music in its current form. Many believed that Nas’ Black identity played a role in this decision.

During a BBC interview, Nas discussed his potential return to country music. He mentioned that he had been experimenting with country sounds over the past few years but emphasized the importance of feeling a genuine connection to the music rather than forcing it.

Looking ahead, the 25-year-old artist is gearing up for the release of his new mixtape, Nasarti 2. The mixtape will feature four recent singles, including “Light Again,” “Right There,” “Lean on my Body,” and “Trust Me.” Nas is clearly focused on continuing to explore different genres and push the boundaries of his musical creativity.
