Drake Joins Kyle Lowry and Masai Ujiri at Toronto WNBA Expansion Event

Drake, the Canadian rapper and Toronto Raptors enthusiast, recently made an appearance at an event announcing the expansion of the WNBA to Toronto. The event, covered by The Toronto Star, was also attended by Raptors star Scottie Barnes, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Premier Doug Ford, and Mayor Olivia Chow.

The new team, which will be the WNBA’s 14th and the first outside of the United States, is set to start playing in the 2026 season. The team will be managed by former Raptors executive Teresa Resch and will play their home games at Coca-Cola Coliseum at Exhibition Place, with some games also scheduled for venues in Montreal and Vancouver.

“We look forward to doing that in a way that no other professional sports team in Canada has ever done. These games are going to matter and we can’t wait to see you there,” said Resch. “We’re gonna be everywhere.”

Drake has been relatively quiet since releasing “The Heart Part Six,” which hinted at the end or pause of his feud with Kendrick Lamar. Recently, he teased the upcoming release of “summer vibes” and shared a photo of the exclusive invitation he received for Michael Rubin’s Fourth of July white party in the Hamptons.
