Longtime collaborators, Kaytranada and KAYTRAMINÉ, have worked together on several songs including “My Dope House” and “Alexys,” as well as the album cut, “letstalkaboutit.” In a 2016 interview with Fader, Kaytranada revealed that he first came out as bisexual to his family at the age of 16, but the topic was never discussed again. The Haitian-born artist expressed mixed emotions at the time, considering his family’s traditional views on homosexuality.
In 2015, at the age of 31, Kaytranada came out to his family as gay, receiving their support. However, he faced difficulty broaching the subject with his father. Despite the challenges, Kaytranada expressed a sense of relief and optimism about the future. He acknowledged that while he may not be completely happy, he is on a journey towards self-acceptance and authenticity.
Kaytranada emphasized that he doesn’t confine himself to labels, but acknowledges his sexual orientation as gay. By sharing his truth, he hopes to feel more at ease with others and move forward authentically. The artist is gearing up for the release of his third album, “Timeless,” scheduled to drop on June 7th.
