Lawsuit Alleges The-Dream of Rape, Battery, and Sex Trafficking

Renowned music artist The-Dream is currently embroiled in a legal battle as he faces serious allegations of rape, sexual battery, and sex trafficking in a recent lawsuit. The lawsuit, filed by a woman named Chanaaz Mangroe, aims to shed light on the harrowing experiences she endured and to prevent such abuses from happening in the future. The eight-time Grammy winner has vehemently denied these allegations, stating that they are completely false and defamatory.

According to a report by Ben Sisario for the New York Times, the lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles and references California’s Sexual Abuse and Cover-Up Accountability Act. Mangroe, who goes by the stage name Channii Monroe, claims that she was coerced into having sexual relations with The-Dream on multiple occasions after being introduced to him in early 2015. Despite initial promises of stardom akin to Beyoncé or Rihanna, Mangroe asserts that their relationship quickly became abusive.

Mangroe alleges that The-Dream engaged in a series of disturbing actions, including coercing her into unprotected sex, filming their encounters without consent, and threatening to expose the footage to others. Additionally, he is accused of monitoring Mangroe while she resided in an Atlanta hotel, as well as forcing her to engage in sexual activities in a theater. The lawsuit also implicates Epic Records, with Mangroe claiming she reported the abuse to a superior but was disregarded. At the time, she was signed to The-Dream’s label with distribution by Epic.

In response to the allegations, The-Dream has denied all claims and emphasized his commitment to supporting artists in achieving their career aspirations. He expressed deep dismay over the accusations of misconduct, stating his opposition to all forms of harassment. The legal team representing Mangroe has previously worked on cases involving Diddy and other high-profile figures.

The-Dream’s impressive resume includes collaborations with music icons like Beyoncé, Rihanna, Diddy, Jay-Z, Mariah Carey, and Britney Spears, among others. His extensive contributions to the music industry have solidified his reputation as a talented songwriter and producer. Despite facing legal challenges in the past, such as the dropped assault case in 2015, The-Dream remains a prominent figure in the music industry.

As this story continues to unfold, both The-Dream and Mangroe’s legal teams are expected to provide further statements. Updates on this case will be shared as more information becomes available.
