Howard University Revokes Diddy’s Honorary Degree and Plans to Return His $1M Donation

In recent news, Howard University’s Board of Trustees has made the decision to unanimously revoke Diddy’s Doctor of Humanities honorary degree. This move comes after a shocking video from 2016 surfaced, showing Diddy, the Bad Boys Record founder, assaulting Cassie. According to The Hilltop, Howard’s student newspaper, the university has deemed Diddy’s behavior in the video to be “fundamentally incompatible” with the core values and beliefs of the institution.

The honorary degree was initially awarded to Diddy in 2014, but now the board has also decided to return his $1 million donation to the school, as well as cancel a pledge from the 54-year-old to donate an additional million. In a statement, Howard University expressed that Diddy is no longer considered worthy of holding the institution’s highest honor due to his actions.

In addition to revoking the honorary degree, all honors and privileges associated with it will also be revoked. The Board of Trustees directed that Diddy’s name be removed from all documents listing honorary degree recipients of Howard University. This decision reflects the university’s commitment to upholding its values and ensuring that those honored by the institution align with those values.
