The last time we heard from Drake, he was putting a regional parody twist on Plain White T’s mid-2000s hit “Hey There Delilah.” Following the release of the remix, there was rampant speculation about the involvement of artificial intelligence, especially after PWT’s lead singer and songwriter Tom Higgenson hinted at such in the band’s reaction video.
Higgenson made it clear that the track was not produced by Drake, despite the confusion surrounding it. He expressed surprise at how many people believed it was an authentic Drake release.
Regardless of the confusion, the song marked Drake’s latest move in the aftermath of his beef with Kendrick Lamar. In May, he showcased his playful side by rapping over Metro Boomin’s “BBL Drizzy” instrumental for Sexyy Red’s In Sexyy We Trust project. In the same month, Drake surprised fans by joining 21 Savage on stage during his headline show in Toronto.
