Lawsuit Filed Against Martin Shkreli for Allegedly Replicating and Distributing Exclusive Wu-Tang Album

During a livestream in 2022, Martin Shkreli reportedly stated that he had made MP3 copies of the album “Once Upon a Time in Shaolin” and distributed them worldwide. He claimed to have hidden these copies in safes scattered around the globe, emphasizing that he did not spend $2 million on the album just to keep one copy. The lawsuit against Shkreli alleges that he appeared in a YouTube video recently where he admitted to sending multiple copies of the album to various individuals, boasting about the benefits it brought him in return.

PleasrDAO, the entity that purchased the album for $4.75 million in 2021, accuses Shkreli of violating the forfeiture order, diminishing the album’s value, and misusing trade secrets, among other offenses. Seeking various forms of relief, including an injunction to prevent further misuse, seizure or destruction of Shkreli’s copies, an account of any profits earned from his actions, and compensation for financial and reputational damages caused.

For those interested, Abe Beame shared his experience hearing “Once Upon a Time in Shaolin” at the Angel Orensanz Foundation, the oldest synagogue in New York City. The ongoing legal battle surrounding the album continues as PleasrDAO seeks justice for the alleged misconduct committed by Martin Shkreli.
