Manager of Ice Spice discusses importance of rapper owning her masters: ‘Independence is key’

In a recent interview, Rosemond Jr. revealed the early conversations he had with 24-year-old artist Ice regarding her music career. He shared how they initially decided to focus on creating a solid foundation for her music before exploring potential deals. Rosemond Jr. expressed gratitude for Ice’s willingness to wait as they worked on building her audience and increasing her numbers.

As a result of their strategic approach, Ice now has control over her masters and publishing rights at a young age. Rosemond Jr. emphasized that she still receives upfront payment as if she were a work-for-hire, showcasing a unique and beneficial agreement for the budding artist. This type of deal, according to Rosemond Jr., is uncommon in the industry and was made possible through hard work, patience, and the ability to create leverage.

Since March 2022, Rosemond has been managing Ice through his Miami-based company, Mastermind Artists. In addition to Ice, he also oversees the career of her long-time collaborator, producer RIOTUSA, and DJ-producer Diablo. Together, they form a talented team working towards furthering Ice’s success in the music industry.
