Renovations on Kanye West’s Malibu mansion allegedly included converting a staircase into a foam slide, a project in which Saxon was not directly involved. However, Saxon was reportedly requested by Censori to assist in removing the foam. Other renovations carried out on the property included the removal of two metal chimneys, glass balustrades, windows, doors, heating, and plumbing.
In an interview with the New Yorker, Saxon mentioned that he had negotiated a fee of $20,000 per week for his services but ended up spending additional funds to compensate his colleagues and purchase materials. He also revealed that while he slept on a mattress in a corner of the main floor, he felt vulnerable to potential intruders. Saxon also recounted having to confront a few young fans of Ye who seemed to be live-streaming from the property.
According to TMZ, Kanye West purchased the mansion for $57 million in 2021. Following an unsuccessful attempt to list the property for $53 million with the assistance of Selling Sunset’s Jason Oppenheim in December, Ye decided to put the property up for sale. The decision to sell was reportedly due to Kanye’s dissatisfaction with the gray walls of the mansion.
Before the property was listed for sale, Saxon filed a lawsuit against Kanye West for unpaid wages and damages, claiming he was fired in retaliation over safety concerns raised. In April, Kanye reduced the asking price of the home to $14 million in hopes of attracting a buyer.
Overall, the mansion presents a unique opportunity for prospective buyers to acquire a waterfront property with the potential to personalize it to their own preferences using modern technology and design standards.
