Gayle King recently shared her thoughts on Justin Timberlake’s recent run-in with the law for driving while intoxicated in New York. During an episode of CBS Mornings, King commented on the arrest and expressed her belief that this incident should not define the singer-songwriter’s character. She defended Timberlake, stating, “Justin Timberlake is a really, really great guy. This is clearly a mistake, I bet nobody knows it more than him.”
King’s co-host, Nate Burleson, joined in to label the incident as a “stupid mistake,” with King concurring. She emphasized that despite this misstep, Timberlake is not an irresponsible or reckless person. She referenced an interview with Billy Joel conducted by PIX11, where Joel urged against rushing to judgment. King added, “But listen, driving drunk, there’s never any excuse for that, ever. … It’s alleged, but based on what the officer saw, it’s not good.”
Timberlake reportedly declined to take a breathalyzer test and was subsequently arrested and charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated after exhibiting erratic driving behavior in New York. The arrest occurred during his Forget Tomorrow World Tour, with upcoming shows scheduled in Chicago and New York. An eyewitness at a venue in Sag Harbor, New York, claimed that Timberlake seemed intoxicated before leaving, recounting an incident where Timberlake mistakenly consumed another patron’s drink.
Timberlake is set to appear in court on July 26 to address the charges against him. Despite the controversy surrounding his arrest, King remains steadfast in her belief in Timberlake’s overall character.
