Lauryn Hill Features Wyclef Jean and Son YG Marley in BET Awards Performance

At the 2024 BET Awards on Sunday, June 30, Ms. Lauryn Hill wowed the audience with a captivating medley of tracks. The performance included guest appearances from her Fugees bandmate Wyclef Jean and her talented son, YG Marley.

Kicking off the show with the title track from her iconic 1998 album, “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill,” Ms. Hill mesmerized the crowd with her soulful vocals. She seamlessly transitioned into “Lost Ones,” showcasing her incredible versatility as an artist. YG Marley then joined her on stage to perform his track “Survival,” which pays homage to his legendary grandfather Bob Marley. Adding her own unique touch, Ms. Hill contributed a powerful verse to the song, before YG Marley impressed the audience with his breakthrough track, “Praise Jah in the Moonlight.”

The climax of the night came when Wyclef Jean took the stage to join Ms. Hill in a memorable performance. Together, they belted out their hit song “Fu-Gee-La,” much to the delight of the audience. The chemistry between the two artists was undeniable, and their energy lit up the stage.

This wasn’t the first time that Ms. Hill and YG Marley shared the spotlight. YG Marley, who has been performing with his mother since he was a young child, recently appeared alongside her on “Jimmy Fallon.” Together, they performed a medley of songs, including “Ex-Factor,” “Survival,” and “Praise Jah in the Moonlight.” At this year’s Coachella Music Festival, YG Marley surprised fans by inviting his mother on stage for a powerful rendition of “Survival,” as well as bringing out Wyclef Jean for crowd-pleasing performances of “Killing Me Softly” and “Ready or Not.”

The BET Awards performance was a testament to Ms. Lauryn Hill’s enduring talent and the special bond she shares with her son and former bandmate. The audience was left in awe of her artistry and ability to captivate with her music.
