Young Thug’s lawyer, Brian Steel, has filed a motion alleging bias on the part of the court in the ongoing YSL RICO case. In the motion, Steel claims that the court is biased against his client, Young Thug, and in favor of the prosecutors. This alleged bias was said to be demonstrated on June 10, 2024, and throughout the entire duration of the case.
The news broke on June 17 that Young Thug and Steel had filed the motion after raising concerns that Judge Glanville may have had a secret meeting with co-defendant Kenneth “YSL Woody” Copeland without any other parties present. Judge Glanville did not confirm or deny the meeting taking place. The following day, Judge Glanville denied the motion filed by Young Thug and Steel.
On June 10, Steel was detained for refusing to reveal how he became aware of the alleged meeting. He was held in contempt of court and initially sentenced to 20 days in Fulton County Jail. However, an emergency motion was filed on June 12, and Steel was granted bond, avoiding jail time. He is currently appealing the contempt of court charge against him.
Young Thug and Brian Steel have also requested a mistrial in the case. The YSL RICO trial has now become the longest criminal trial in Georgia’s history. The saga continues as Young Thug’s legal team fights for justice in the highly publicized case.
