Janelli Caceres-Pickens, the wife of Chinx, shared her thoughts on Homere’s recent plea deal, expressing disappointment that the family did not receive the outcome they had hoped for. Despite this setback, she emphasized that they will be present in court to witness Homere being sentenced.
Caceres-Pickens revealed that they had fought for a higher charge, ideally murder 2, as murder 1 is typically reserved for cases involving government officials in New York. However, Homere refused to accept the murder 2 charge, leading to a plea deal for manslaughter. Although she is upset by the outcome, she acknowledged that they cannot escape the will of God and that they will continue to honor Chinx’s memory.
She stated, “He deserves to spend his life in jail, but we will be there on August 12 to hear his sentencing. Chinx will forever live on through us all! Thank you to everyone who has supported us during this difficult time.”
In 2018, the other suspect in the case, Jamar Hill, was reportedly in discussions to secure a plea deal as well. Both Hill and Homere were accused of fatally shooting Chinx after a performance at a Brooklyn nightclub in May 2015. They were arrested in 2017 while serving time for unrelated cases and faced multiple charges, including attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
While Hill’s case is still ongoing, Homere accepted a plea deal that could result in a 23-year prison sentence with five years of post-release supervision. The family continues to seek justice for Chinx and remains grateful for the ongoing support they have received.
