Common acknowledges that the feud with Drake began with subliminal shots and attributes his father’s influence in motivating them to resolve it.

Common recently opened up about his past feud with Drake, sharing that it was his father, Dennis Graham, who encouraged them to resolve their issues. Speaking on the Drink Champs podcast, Common reflected on the origins of the feud, pointing out that it all started with perceived subliminal disses from Drake. As a competitive artist, Common found himself unable to resist engaging with Drake in the lyrical skirmish. The fact that both men had dated Serena Williams only added more tension to the situation.

“I felt like Drake was sending me a couple of shots, subliminals,” Common stated. “I don’t know what motivated him to send me some shots but I think what for sure had me, if I’m just being real, like you know, we mess with one of the same girls….You know wars happen over women. That’s just what it is.”

He went on to explain, “But I ain’t going to get at you if you with somebody I was with. But if you start throwing me a couple little, you know, you trying to throw some jabs, you know, and I’m like, ‘come on man, okay.'”

The revelation offers fans a glimpse into the decade-old rift between the two artists, shedding light on the complexities of rivalries within the music industry. Common’s decision to discuss the feud publicly demonstrates growth and maturity, highlighting the importance of communication and resolution in addressing conflicts. With Drake and Common now on good terms, it serves as a reminder that even the most intense beefs can be squashed through open dialogue and understanding.
