Céline Dion Breaks Free From Near-Fatal Valium Dependence While Battling Autoimmune Disease

Celine Dion recently opened up about her struggles with medication and health, revealing that at one point she was taking more than twice the recommended daily dose of certain medications. This excessive intake could have been fatal, but she fortunately made the decision to cut back on her usage during the COVID-19 pandemic when she was able to take a step back from the spotlight and prioritize her health.

With the help of medical professionals, Dion began weaning herself off the medications, especially the ones that were harmful to her well-being. She realized that the medications had stopped working for her, prompting her to make the necessary changes to improve her health.

However, after being weaned off the drugs, Dion’s symptoms worsened. She hasn’t performed since March 2020 and only recently disclosed her diagnosis of Stiff Person Syndrome in December 2022, despite battling the condition for almost two decades.

During the pandemic, Dion also began working on a documentary for Prime Video titled “I Am: Celine Dion,” which is set to premiere on June 25. In the documentary, she makes a heartfelt promise to her fans that she will return to the stage once again, showing her resilience and determination in the face of adversity.

Despite the challenges she has faced, Dion remains positive and determined to overcome whatever obstacles come her way. As she proclaims in the film, “If I can’t run, I’ll walk. If I can’t walk, I’ll crawl… I won’t stop.” Her unwavering spirit and commitment to her fans are truly inspiring and serve as a reminder of the strength that lies within all of us.
