Scooter Braun has announced that he is stepping away from his role as music manager to focus on his family and his position as CEO of Hybe America. The 42-year-old, who is known for his work with Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, shared that he could no longer justify the sacrifices he was once willing to make and that it was time for him to embrace a new role.
Braun, who has three children – sons Jagger and Levi, and daughter Hart, with ex-wife Yael Cohen, revealed that he had been moving towards this decision over the past two years. However, it wasn’t until last summer that the opportunity for this new chapter presented itself when one of his biggest clients expressed a desire to move in a different direction. Braun saw this as a sign and decided to make the change.
He expressed great pride and honor in the success of Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, whom he had worked closely with over the last decade. The announcement comes following reports that several artists had ended their professional relationships with Braun as their manager, a topic that he also addressed in his statement.
Braun acknowledged the speculation about his company and career, stating that he had always tried to take the high road in the face of criticism. However, he admitted that this approach had led to confusion and ambiguity surrounding his identity. As a result, he has appointed Allison Kaye and Jennifer McDaniels as his successors at SB Projects, his management company.
