The musical group has enlisted their longtime collaborator, Williams, to produce their upcoming album entirely, excluding Chad Hugo, who is one half of The Neptunes. The renowned production duo, responsible for Clipse’s previous four albums, is currently embroiled in a legal dispute regarding the ‘Neptunes’ trademark, as reported by Billboard.
Pusha revealed in an interview with Vulture that aside from Pharrell handling all the production, he preferred not to disclose any details about the featured artists on the album. This decision to have Pharrell oversee the entire production process is a deliberate choice in line with the type of music and albums that the group aims to create. Pusha emphasized the desire to craft cohesive bodies of work that feel like cinematic experiences rather than just a collection of individual tracks.
Describing the album as a “tedious” and “cohesive” endeavor, Pusha highlighted the intense creative process involved in bringing the project to life. He expressed that the recording sessions often involved spirited debates and disagreements, with everyone striving to deliver their best performances.
Addressing Williams’ and Hugo’s legal issues, Pusha confirmed that the group did not collaborate with Hugo on the new album. Despite previously commenting on the lawsuit in April, he admitted to not being well-versed in the details of the legal battle. Pusha also teased the possibility of making an appearance in Williams’ upcoming LEGO-animated movie, set to premiere in October, although he has not yet viewed a pre-release screening.
