Firerose reacts to Billy Ray Cyrus’ domestic abuse lawsuit filing

The divorce proceedings between country singers Billy Ray Cyrus and Firerose have taken a dark and troubling turn. Less than a month after Cyrus, who is also the father of Grammy-winning singer Miley Cyrus, cited “inappropriate marital conduct” in his divorce filing, Firerose issued a counter complaint alleging “extreme verbal, emotional, and psychological abuse.” The couple got married just last October.

According to People, Firerose, 35, claimed that Cyrus, 62, struggles with substance abuse, which makes him “unpredictable and volatile.” She also stated that Cyrus filed for divorce one day after she was scheduled to undergo a preventative double mastectomy. Firerose’s attorneys detailed the abuse she endured, stating that she was subjected to her husband’s persistent drug use, which, coupled with his marijuana consumption, made him unpredictable and volatile towards her.

In response to Cyrus’ claims of “inappropriate marital conduct,” Firerose is requesting an annulment, alleging that her consent to marriage was obtained through fraud. She denied all allegations made against her and instead accused Cyrus of creating “unsafe” circumstances for her. Firerose claimed that the weeks leading up to her double mastectomy were filled with chaos and that Cyrus continuously launched verbal assaults at her, forcing her into an emotional and psychological prison.

Cyrus filed for divorce less than 24 hours before Firerose’s scheduled surgery, resulting in tension between Firerose and Cyrus’s brother and sister-in-law. Despite initially agreeing to leave their home, Firerose postponed the surgery indefinitely, although Cyrus had allegedly promised to pay for it.

This is not the first time Cyrus has gone through a divorce. In 2023, he and his second wife, Miley’s mother Tish Cyrus, ended their 30-year marriage. In a podcast interview on Call Her Daddy, Tish revealed that she had undergone a complete psychological breakdown before filing for divorce.
