The music industry suffered a great loss with the passing of the legendary 13-time Grammy winner, Prince, at the age of 50. His death was attributed to cardiac arrest caused by acute propofol intoxication. Prince’s talent was evident from a young age, as he began making a name for himself in the industry at just 12 years old.
Recent reports have highlighted a financial dispute involving Prince and his siblings, Paris, 25, and Bigi, 22, along with their grandmother, Katherine Jackson. They were reportedly unable to access funds from Michael Jackson’s estate until a disagreement with the IRS was resolved. The siblings are beneficiaries of the late singer’s trust, while Katherine, 94, is a beneficiary of a sub-trust.
After a tax audit revealed that the estate had undervalued its assets, resulting in owing $700 million in taxes and penalties, plans were made for the artist’s estate to be reconsidered following Sony’s $600 million purchase of a portion of Jackson’s Mijac in February.
Prince’s grief was shared by other members of the Jackson family, including Michael’s older brothers Jackie and Tito, along with Tito’s son TJ, who all took to Instagram to pay tribute to the “Rock With You” singer.
Fans can anticipate the release of Jackson’s theatrical biopic, titled “Michael,” set to premiere on April 18, 2025. The film stars his nephew Jaafar Jackson, son of Jermaine. The legacy of Michael Jackson continues to live on through his music and the impact he made on the industry.
