Sheryl Crow expressed strong disapproval of Drake’s use of artificial intelligence to “resurrect” 2Pac’s vocals, calling it offensive. She is set to release her new album, “Evolution,” which touches on the negative impacts of AI. In a recent interview with BBC, Crow discussed the ethical implications of the technology, specifically referencing the controversial track “Taylor Made Freestyle” where Drake used AI to simulate the voices of 2Pac and Snoop Dogg. The song was taken down after a cease-and-desist order from 2Pac’s estate.
Crow stated, “You cannot bring people back from the dead and believe that they would stand for that.” The feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar escalated when Drake mocked the West Coast legends in his song, prompting Kendrick to respond during a recent concert.
The singer also expressed concerns about how AI could impact her adopted sons in the future. Crow emphasized the importance of educating children about the potential dangers of technology, comparing it to a frog in a pot of water slowly boiling.
Interestingly, AI apps like Suno and Udio, which were instrumental in creating viral songs like “BBL Drizzy,” are facing copyright infringement lawsuits from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The lawsuits accuse these apps of independently creating tracks that infringe upon copyrighted material.
