Saweetie Analyzes Jay-Z’s Work, Nervous About Releasing New Music

When it comes to debut albums, artists must deliver the goods. Rapper Saweetie understands this, and she has been looking to one of hip-hop’s greats to hone her craft.

During an interview with People to discuss her partnership with The Boiling Crab and Postmates, the Bay Area native revealed that she has been delving into JAY-Z’s discography to elevate her skills.

“The other day, I was immersing myself in various JAY-Z albums,” Saweetie shared. “I specifically remember using his music as inspiration when writing freestyles in my car. One of my favorite albums of his is ‘The Blueprint.’ What I admire the most about it is that, beyond the lyrics, you get to learn about the man who went from the streets of New York to becoming a successful businessman.”

Along with this, the two-time Grammy-nominated artist admitted that even though she is no stranger to the music industry, she still gets nervous when releasing new singles. Saweetie’s most recent track, “NANi,” was released in May, following the success of “Richtivities” and “Immortal Freestyle.”
