In this mix, I wanted to showcase the vibe of my berlioz DJ sets. I selected songs based on what feels right to me, without overthinking it too much. Some tracks have been staples in my sets for years, while others were discovered specifically for this mix.
One track that was a must for me to include is my own track “Something Will Happen”. It has a soul-lifting quality that has been on repeat for me since its release in May.
There was a song called “nytmp” from my album that I wanted to include, but unfortunately, it didn’t make the final cut. It’s an unreleased track that I hope to share soon.
The first single or album I ever bought was John Coltrane’s “A Love Supreme” when I was just 6 or 7 years old. It remains one of my all-time favorite albums, even though I didn’t stick with learning to play the saxophone for long.
The most recent physical record I bought was a signed copy of Vieux Farka Touré’s collaboration with Khruangbin, titled “Ali”. My wife and I picked it up after seeing him live, and it’s a truly beautiful album.
Looking ahead, I plan to continue making music that resonates with me. Staying true to myself and creating the kind of music that I want to listen to is my priority.
One trend or scene in the music industry that I believe needs to end is the lack of consideration for the planet and people. Venues, artists, promoters, and labels should prioritize collaborating with industries that align with the values of optimism and spiritual integrity found in the arts.
