Common collaborates with Pete Rock on joint album, hints at potential sequel

Nearly three decades after their initial collaboration on Common’s iconic 1996 diss track “The Bitch In Yoo,” the talented Chicago MC and Pete Rock have united once again to release their latest joint album titled The Auditorium, Vol. 1.

This 15-track project includes featured appearances from renowned artists such as De La Soul’s Posdnuos on “When the Sun Shines Again,” Bilal on “So Many People,” Jennifer Hudson on “A God (There Is),” and PJ on “Everything’s So Grand.”

Auditorium Vol. 1 serves as the first full-length album from both musicians since 2021, following Common’s A Beautiful Revolution Pt. 2 and Pete Rock’s 21 Grams: Worth It’s Weight In Soul by three years.

During an interview with People, Common discussed a variety of topics and hinted that this new project may be just the beginning of a series. “We put Vol. 1 because obviously, potentially, there may be a second volume,” he shared with the publication.

In celebration of the album’s release, Common took to Instagram to express his gratitude to God, Pete Rock, and others who contributed to the project.
