Interview with 4Batz: The Story Behind His Viral Success

Adjusting to a sudden shift in fame can be a challenging one, especially for someone like me who came from humble beginnings. Living in a church for several years and sleeping on the floor for most of my life, fame is still a surreal concept for me. Growing up in Dallas was tough, with constant evictions and moving to different schools due to life circumstances. Despite the hardships, my experiences molded me into the person I am today, often leading people to think I’m older than I actually am.

Speculations about me releasing music under the name Spidey are incorrect, as that’s actually my brother. Music runs in the family, with a line of talented singers including my mother, father, and even my grandmother who once dated Marvin Gaye. This family history of musical talent inspired me to explore my own singing abilities, which I discovered during a casual moment on the phone.

The name 4Batz represents my roots in South Dallas, where I earned the nickname ‘Bats’ due to my love for fighting. Taking my music into the studio, I experimented with altering my voice similar to the styles of DJ Screw, blending elements of the past with a modern twist. Despite some criticisms of my artistic approach, I remain true to my unique sound and continue to push boundaries.

Personal struggles, including the loss of my father and a heartbreaking betrayal in a relationship, fueled my passion for creating music. These difficult moments inspired the content of my songs, including my debut EP ‘u made me a st4r’ which is dedicated to a significant person in my life. Writing these songs became a therapeutic outlet, allowing me to express emotions and connect with listeners who resonate with my experiences.

Meeting industry legends like Drake and engaging in conversations with Ye have been surreal experiences that shaped my perspective on success and creativity. The journey from recording songs with a $90 microphone to collaborating with industry icons has been a whirlwind of unexpected opportunities and challenges.

Looking ahead, my goal is to inspire others to embrace their uniqueness and break free from societal expectations. My desire to be the biggest artist in the world stems from a genuine passion for creating music that resonates with diverse audiences. Despite misconceptions about my background and artistic process, I remain focused on making authentic music that reflects my journey from obscurity to fame.
