DJ Vlad receives backlash for intimidating Princeton professor regarding Drake and Kendrick Lamar rivalry

The conversation between Vlad and Jenkins started when Vlad tagged Princeton University in response to a comment made by Jenkins. Vlad questioned whether a white person should not be allowed to voice their opinion on hip-hop just because they are white. Jenkins, a Black woman, calmly explained that the focus of the conversation should be centered around Black voices and experiences, not Vlad’s opinion.

Vlad then went on to make a veiled threat to contact Princeton, insinuating that Jenkins may face consequences for her words. He claimed that every university keeps a “permanent record” and suggested that Jenkins may no longer have a job at Princeton after he contacts them.

Jenkins responded by pointing out the hypocrisy of Vlad’s actions and statements. She noted that people like Vlad often make ignorant and bigoted comments but play the victim when they receive pushback. Jenkins advised Vlad to remove Princeton from his profile since he implied that his connection to the university was no longer valid.

The exchange between Vlad and Jenkins highlighted the underlying issues of race, privilege, and power dynamics in conversations about hip-hop and Black culture. While Vlad attempted to silence or discredit Jenkins, she remained composed and focused on the importance of uplifting Black voices in discussions about hip-hop.
