Shaboozey’s “A Pub Anthem” Takes Inspiration from J-Kwon’s “Tipsy” to Achieve Top 10 Success

Shaboozey’s summer hit “A Bar Song” features J-Kwon as one of the writers, alongside Chibueze Collins Obinna, Joe Kent, Mark Williams, Nevin Sastry, and Sean Cook. The song, produced by Sean Cook and Nevin Sastry, borrows a catchy line from J-Kwon’s previous work and transforms it into a new setting, moving the scene to a bar in Nashville.

The lyrics of the song paint a picture of a lively night out, with references to whiskey and a bustling party near 5th Street. The chorus repeats the phrase “Everybody at the bar getting tipsy,” adding to the upbeat and playful vibe of the track.

J-Kwon’s original hit “Tipsy” reached the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2004, peaking at No. 2. The single from his album “Hood Hop” went on to be certified Gold by the RIAA, selling over 500,000 units. Despite his past success, J-Kwon has faced challenges in the music industry, including false reports of his disappearance and attention from high-profile figures like Kanye West.
